City of Wichita Falls Disconnection Rumors

Wichita Falls, Texas – The City would like to thank our residents for conserving water during this
unprecedented weather event. We are aware of rumors circulating that we will be turning off the
water supply to residents. This is FALSE. These rumors are only making the situation worse as it
encourages residents to reserve more water than needed. Our current treatment capabilities have
been able to meet the current demands of our residents, businesses, and our wholesale customers.
The Water Purification staff are working to continue and increase treatment, however
chemical feed systems, monitoring equipment, and other equipment is still frozen, delaying the
increase in water production. Public Works anticipates having additional water treatment systems
online producing more water in the system by late this evening.
We do ask all customers to be conscientious of their water consumption, and only use water for
essential needs, such as cooking, bathing, and sanitary needs. Please reduce water usage for things
such as laundry and dishwashers to help further conserve.
If you have power and do not need to let your faucets drip or run, please turn them off. Efficient and
conscientious use of the water will allow staff enough time to increase water production and keep
our system fully charged.
Residents are encouraged to immediately report main breaks or leaks to the Distribution Division.
If your water pipes rupture, use your private shutoff valve to turn off the water. If you do not have
a private shutoff valve, or if you cannot find it, call the Water Distribution offices for an emergency
turn off at the meter.
