ISO is an independent organization that evaluates a community’s ability to respond to fires. The evaluation considers dozens of elements within the fire, water, and dispatch centers. Most of the country’s major insurers use the ISO rating in their premium calculations.
Wichita Falls joins less than 400 other jurisdictions with an ISO Class 1 rating. This designation is a testament to the efforts of those within the fire department, water department, and dispatch center, along with the strategic and financial support provided to these departments by city leadership and our city council.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the City of Wichita Falls the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2021 Fiscal Year Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
League of American Bicyclists announced that it is honoring the efforts of Wichita Falls to build better places to bike with a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) award. The award recognizes Wichita Falls for its commitment to creating transportation and recreational resources that benefit its residents of all ages and abilities while encouraging healthier and more sustainable transportation choices.
