Do you want to know more about what makes Wichita Falls a great place to live? The City of Wichita Falls will offer an eight-week course that will provide an inside look at all the different departments and operations it takes to keep the City running. The program's goal is to create more informed, engaged, and proactive community members to strengthen the City's vision for growth and development.


Key 2Mission: The program will cover a variety of curricula to foster a greater understanding of the City of Wichita Falls and all its municipal functions in a fun and interactive forum.

Key 2Definition: The Wichita Falls Citizens Academy is designed to provide the residents of Wichita Falls an inside look at our local City government. Residents can learn the municipal government's basic roles and functions through in-person classes, tours, and activities. Various topics will be covered, including City Council roles and responsibilities, general City services such as police, fire, and public works, community development and planning, and many other Wichita Falls-focused municipal topic. The Wichita Falls Citizens Academy is a great way to develop relationships with City staff while learning more about their responsibilities, and finding ways to become more involved.

Key 2Eligibility: This class comprises a cross-section of Wichita Falls residents. The minimum age for enrollment is 18 years of age. Approximately 25 students will be accepted into each class. Completion of the Wichita Falls Citizens Academy Enrollment Application is required. Students must complete 7 of the 8 classes to graduate from Wichita Falls Citizens Academy. Students will be honored at a special graduation event held during the first City Council meeting of the month.
