In the fall of 2021, as part of the ongoing discussions regarding the City's development-related fees, the development community and staff suggested to the City Council that a formal study be conducted to determine the costs associated with providing development services (i.e. building permitting, inspections, zoning, platting, etc.). In April 2022, the City contracted with Matrix Consulting to conduct a Cost of Service study related to these fees. Matrix worked with staff directly related to these services to gather information for the report.
This study looks at what each permit type actually costs the taxpayers of Wichita Falls to provide vs. what the City recovers in fees from those using the service.
