The Parks & Recreation Department is proud to serve the citizens of Wichita Falls. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for our community members and visitors by enhancing the beauty of the city and providing innovative recreational programs.
We strive to make our city a more enjoyable place in which to live by providing the public with colorful landscaped medians, aesthetically pleasing parks, and an extensive hiking / biking trail system.

The City owns four municipal cemeteries -- Riverside, Rosemont, Hillcrest, and Lakeview.
They are maintained and operated by the Cemetery Division of the Parks Department. Operations include opening and closings of graves, selling of cemetery property, and location of gravesites.

This division of the Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for mowing and cleaning up vacant lots.
They maintain City owned vacant properties on a regular basis and privately owned vacant properties as requested by Code Enforcement when they are in violation of the City ordinance.

The Parks Maintenance Division provides upkeep of 37 parks totaling almost 1,100 acres. They perform weekly maintenance of over 50 miles of street medians and triangles, 11 ornamental median structures, 9 major highway interchange areas, 12 public building grounds, and a 5 acre RV Park. The division also maintains over 13 miles of concrete hiking and biking trails and trail amenities along the Wichita River and Holliday Creek.
